Joe Cornish
Cornish is a modern day photographer working on landscape photography, his noticeable contributions are included in more than 30 travel books. His most recent work has be with the national trust.
Joe moved to North Yorkshire in 1993. After a decade shooting 35mm and 6x6 film, in 1995 he started working with a Horseman SW 612 wide-angle camera. After another year he switched to 5x4. It was a move that allowed Joe to develop the style that characterises his work today. With friends Joni and Joe Essex, Joe started Joegraphic in 1999, publishing cards and calendars. Starting in Stokesley, the acquisition of Register House in Northallerton in 2004 led to the formation of Joe Cornish Galleries.
Wild Stillness
I love this kind of image it gives an almost timeless and lonely feel to the image. The tree stands alone and is a survivor in a way with the lack of trees around, the clouds give a harshness to the environment.
Sandy mouth
I love the colour and tonal range in this image.
Millennium bridge, Sunset
This image is a great example of what I like to photograph, sunset gives an extra colour quality not
found during the middle of the day. I also love the way he`s positioned the camera so that the reflection of the bridge follows the contours of the hand rail.
The Flow of Light
This is an example of Joe`s use of slow shutter with great effect, using the rocks to lead the eye into the mountains beyond.
My thoughts.
I really love this Joe`s work and hope to achieve levels of excellence as he has and go to some of the most beautiful parts of the country.
